Associate a snapshot policy and storage group with each other

The Snapshot policy feature provides snapshot orchestration at scale (1,024 snaps per storage group). The feature simplifies snapshot management for snapshots.

Each storage group can be assigned up to four snapshot policies. Child storage groups inherit the policies of the parent storage group.

This operation is also available from the Snapshot Policy Storage Group list view and the Data Protection tab > Snapshot Policies tab after clicking View All Details for a selected storage group that is associated with snapshot policies.

This operation can be invoked from multiple locations in the Unisphere user interface. Depending on where the operation is invoked, some of the steps below may not apply.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system that supports snapshot policies.
  2. Select Data Protection > Snapshot Policies.
  3. Select a snapshot policy, click An icon showing three dots arranged in a vertical row, signifying a menu with more options, and click Add Storage Group.
  4. Select one or more storage groups and click Add.
